There seems to be quite the hype about green smoothies lately. It must be an intriguing thought; drinking vegetables through a straw.
But when those vegetables taste like a tropical paradise and make you feel as if you’ve been transported to a lush, green island surrounded by mangoes and bananas galore. . . plus, you’re getting a huge serving of greens for the day. . .
I can see the appeal.
I remember the first time I tried to make a “green” smoothie. My only initiative was to make the drink pretty and a vibrant green. I threw whatever fruits and veggies I thought would taste good and hit the blend button on my ninja.
The outcome was a brown mush that quite frankly tasted like baby food.
No matter, times have changed. And my smoothie making skills have improved. This green smoothie is chock full of tropical flavour bursting with mango and banana. My friend, Kelly, actually introduced me to this combination. Whilst I made a chocolate smoothie (because chocolate is the best flavour for anything) she made herself a tasty green drink.
Which I’m sharing with you.
- 1 c. spinach or kale
- 1 banana
- ¾ c. frozen mango
- ½ c. almond milk (or water)
- Throw all of you ingredients into a blender and blend until creamy. Serve immediately.
Much Love,
Katherine Marie
